The Story

Every year, thousands of community dogs remain outside the reach of regular vaccination programs. While many dedicated volunteers work tirelessly to care for these animals, vaccination efforts often depend on limited resources, inconsistent campaigns, or local initiatives that fail to reach every neighborhood.

This gap affects everyone. Unvaccinated dogs remain vulnerable to rabies, a disease that is almost entirely preventable through timely vaccination. At the same time, communities continue to fear stray dogs because they cannot be sure which animals have been vaccinated. The result is unnecessary panic, conflict, and avoidable harm to both humans and dogs.

Cities around the world have demonstrated that sustained annual vaccination programs significantly reduce rabies while improving public confidence in humane animal management. Scientific evidence consistently shows that vaccination is one of the most effective strategies for protecting both animal welfare and public health.

We believe Bengaluru can become a model city by ensuring every community dog receives an annual anti-rabies vaccine through systematic planning, transparent reporting, and collaboration with local volunteers and animal welfare organizations.

This petition is not asking for extraordinary measures. It calls for the consistent implementation of proven public health practices that benefit everyone. Together, we can build safer neighborhoods while treating community animals with compassion and responsibility.

Our Demands

Annual Citywide Vaccination Drives

Conduct scheduled anti-rabies vaccination campaigns across every ward each year, ensuring that all community dogs are vaccinated and properly recorded.

Public Vaccination Dashboard

Maintain an online dashboard showing vaccination progress by ward, upcoming drives, and coverage statistics to improve transparency and public participation.

Community Volunteer Participation

Allow registered feeders, NGOs, and volunteers to assist authorities in identifying and bringing community dogs for vaccination.

Adequate Budget Allocation

Allocate sufficient annual funding to ensure vaccines, trained personnel, transportation, and public awareness campaigns are consistently available.
